God hates it, do you love it?

The question on the Harry Potter books is definitely a large one, and one that needs an answer. As a Roman Catholic I am sworn to follow the Pope, who is the Vicar of Christ. Our current Pope, Benedict XVI, is opposed to Harry Potter and wrote two letters in 2003 to MS. Kuby, the author of Harry Potter-Good or Evil?. In a letter dated March 7, 2003 Cardinal Ratzinger thanked Kuby for her “instructive” book Harry Potter - gut oder böse (Harry Potter- good or evil?), in which Kuby says the Potter books corrupt the hearts of the young, preventing them from developing a properly ordered sense of good and evil, thus harming their relationship with God while that relationship is still young. Here are the official letters from the Cardinal Ratzinger to Kuby in 2003:

Esteemed and dear Ms. Kuby!
Many thanks for your kind letter of February 20th and the informative book which you sent me in the same mail. It is good, that you enlighten people about Harry Potter, because those are subtle seductions, which act unnoticed and by this deeply distort Christianity in the soul, before it can grow properly.
I would like to suggest that you write to Mr. Peter Fleetwood, (Pontifical Council of Culture, Piazza S. Calisto 16, I00153 Rome) directly and to send him your book.
Sincere Greetings and Blessings,
+ Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger

Esteemed and dear Ms. Kuby,

Somehow your letter got buried in the large pile of name-day , birthday and Easter mail. Finally this pile is taken care of, so that I can gladly allow you to refer to my judgment about Harry Potter.

  Sincere Greetings and Blessings,
+ Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger

So for those of you who follow the Pope, well, he is against Harry Potter.

For those Christians among you who don't acknowledge the Pope's authority, I shall quote some scripture, seeing as you beleive in scripture alone:

Deuteronomy 18:9-11 (New International Version, ©2010)

Occult Practices
9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Acts 19:18-20 (New International Version, ©2010)

18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. 19 A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.[a] 20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

Footnotes:
  1. Acts 19:19 A drachma was a silver coin worth about a day’s wages.

                    Satisfied? YOU'D BETTER BE!!

And for those of you who don't even believe in God, the only way I can help you is right here
